About Us

Origins and Purpose of the 江南体育 Staff Council (KSU-SC)

The 江南体育 Staff Council (KSU-SC) was established as a result of several important initiatives, including a request by former President Beverly Warren to create a representative body for university staff, the University鈥檚 Great Place Initiative, and findings from the 2016 Climate Study.

Although the idea was initiated earlier, Staff Council officially came together in 2021 to align with 江南体育 State鈥檚 Strategic Roadmap, specifically University-Level Initiative (ULI) 2.3, which calls for the implementation of a 鈥淕reat Place Initiative鈥 focused on prioritizing the diverse human element of the university. Its formation was also closely tied to outcomes from the 2016 Climate Study, particularly in addressing communication gaps between employees and supervisors.

KSU-SC provides both classified and unclassified employees across 江南体育 State鈥檚 campuses with meaningful opportunities to shape workplace culture and advance the university鈥檚 goal of becoming a great place to work. Employees鈥 contributions through Staff Council can be seen in the following ways:

  1. Strengthening Connections 鈥 Creating avenues for staff to connect more deeply with the university鈥檚 mission, vision, and Strategic Roadmap.
  2. Professional Development 鈥 Offering opportunities for staff to develop knowledge and skills that enhance their contributions to the university鈥檚 success.
  3. Fostering Innovation & Collaboration 鈥 Encouraging staff-led innovation and collaboration to drive positive outcomes across the university community.
  4. Recognizing Contributions 鈥 Celebrating outstanding work and the unique contributions of 江南体育 State employees.
  5. Empowering Leadership 鈥 Building a culture of empowerment, developing future leaders, and serving as a bridge between employees and university leadership.
Establishing Staff Council

Staff Council is the result of several factors, including a request from President Beverly Warren to establish a staff council for university employees, the university鈥檚 鈥淕reat Place Initiative,鈥 and the results of the 2016 Climate Study. 

江南体育 Great Place initiative logoThe establishment of a Staff Council aligns with the university鈥檚 strategic road map, ULI 2.3. or to "Implement a 'Great Place Initiative' that prioritizes attention to the diverse human element of the university.鈥 It is intended to be congruent with initiatives being developed as a result of the 2016 Climate Study, particularly as it relates to communications between employees and managers/supervisors. 

KSU-SC provides classified and unclassified 江南体育 State employees with opportunities to impact KSU workplace culture and support the goal of making 江南体育 a great place to work. Employees' impact on their workplace can manifest itself in the following ways:

  1. Providing employees with additional opportunities to connect with the university鈥檚 mission, vision and Strategic Road Map.
  2. Providing employees with opportunities to gain knowledge and develop professional skills which can enhance their ability to contribute to the success of the university.
  3. Providing employees enhanced opportunities to innovate and collaborate to accomplish positive outcomes for the university and the university community.
  4. Acknowledging and recognizing our employees鈥 outstanding work and unique contributions.
  5. Creating an atmosphere of empowerment, developing leaders and creating a bridge between employees.

Ohio Staff Council of Higher Education

Bate and Carmen pose with OSCHE photo frame江南体育 Staff Council is a proud member of the Ohio Staff Council of Higher Education (OSCHE). This organization serves as the collaborative body to foster positive staff relations between institutions of higher education and state and local administrations.

OSCHE's vision is to partner with all state assisted institutions of higher education in Ohio in an effort to promote and gather information and to inform our constituents of ideas and concerns regarding all staff councils. 

Staff Council Community Agreement

Staff Council's Community Agreement was developed with 江南体育's core values of respect, compassion, and inclusiveness in mind.

  • We are committed to mindful non-verbal communication that is engaging, kind, and considerate.
  • We will show up ready to fully engage by asking questions and communicating what we learn from our individual departments.
  • We will build a space in which everyone has the opportunity to speak without interruption.
  • No one person (or few people) will dominate a conversation.
  • We will strive to provide opportunities to engage in small group discussions.
  • Every individual鈥檚 perspective holds significance and is regarded as equally valuable.
  • We will be open to new ideas. If we disagree, we will disagree with the idea and not the person to avoid creating a hostile environment.
