Honors College Alumna Speaks Up for Those with No Voice

Honors College alumna Maya Huffman, a native of Toledo, graduated a semester early from ½­ÄÏÌåÓý State in December 2022, as a double major in psychology and political science with a minor in pre-law. Her story is not only one of academic achievement but also one of community engagement and a commitment to addressing important societal issues.

Honors Student Receives Dr. Elizabeth Howard Memorial Honors Scholarship

Gabrielle (Gabby) Volz is a second year ½­ÄÏÌåÓý Honors College student from Mansfield, Ohio, and a graduate of Lexington High School. She is the second recipient of the Dr. Elizabeth Howard scholarship, the recently established fund for Honors College students in memory of Elizabeth Howard, Ph.D., who was a prominent member of the Honors College community, as well as the Department of English.

'A Supportive Community Makes It a Lot Easier'

Students coming to ½­ÄÏÌåÓý State and, for some of them, living away from home for the first time can struggle with the transition. The transition can even be more difficult for LGBTQ+ students, particularly for those who have recently "come out." Ken Ditlevson, director of ½­ÄÏÌåÓý State's LGBTQ+ Center, talks about the many resources available at ½­ÄÏÌåÓý to support them.
