Each summer, thousands of new students and their parents experience life on campus during Destination ½­ÄÏÌåÓý State (DKS) new student orientation. 

Everyone is welcome to join the celebration as ½­ÄÏÌåÓý commemorates Juneteenth with its third annual Juneteenth Jubilee on Friday, June 16.

During the four-day Air Race Classic, ½­ÄÏÌåÓý State alumna Laura Wilson and junior Peyton Turner will fly 2,400 miles and make nine timed flybys at airports in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Alabama and Florida before landing in Homestead, Florida.

"Poetry and science are not opposites, they’re actually allies," said David Hassler, director of ½­ÄÏÌåÓý’s Wick Poetry Center. 

Hassler paraphrases American poet Jane Hirshfield, who, in 2017, contacted him to collaborate on a Poets for Science project, which is now an interactive exhibit and writing invitation housed at the Wick Poetry Center on the ½­ÄÏÌåÓý Campus.

After 27 years of travel and pivoting to various international endeavors, Sonia Karkare, a native of Mumbai, India, is now back at ½­ÄÏÌåÓý State as an adjunct professor with the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship’s Executive MBA (Master of Business Administration) program. She is teaching diverse types of courses, including the Digital Transformation in Healthcare course.

Timothy Johnson said ½­ÄÏÌåÓý State advisors, who knew he had been working on his degree for 15 years, helped him coordinate his schedule so that he could take in-person classes â€” while working a full-time job â€” and still have time to spend with his children.
